Studio Select Squareback 2 Golf
Putter
Review!
|
|
Although
the Scotty Cameron Studio Select Squareback 2 Putter at first glance
looks very similar to the Squareback 1 Putter, there are some subtle
differences in their design, with the Squareback 2 Putter being setup
to give players a bit more toe flow than the nearly face balanced
Squareback 1.
The subtle differences comes in the form of a slightly thinner topline,
thicker cavity wall and a mid-length plumbing neck hosel that is
positioned slightly further back towards the heel.
With the same new tour-inspired Cherry Dot graphics that all of the 9
putters possess in the Studio Select Series, the Squareback 2 Putter
gets its name from the signature square flange that includes a milled
sight line for accurate alignment.
Precision milled from a block of soft yet durable 303 stainless steel
metal to enhance performance and feel the Squareback 2 Putter utilizes
the same high performance technological enhancements as the other
Studio Select Design Series.
|
One of the most significant of
these enhancements is the introduction of the heel and toe weighting
system, which uses circular interchangeable weights that are screwed
into the heel and toe end of the putters sole. With 3 different
shaft length options available from 33” through to 35” this important
enhancement allows Scotty to correctly balance the weight of the putter
head so that it is relative to the shaft length.
The Studio
Select Squareback 2 Putter also comes with 2 extra heavier weight
options in the 34” and 35” shaft lengths, for those golfers that prefer
a heavier, more solid feel. Golfers also have the option of changing
the lie angle by up to +/- 2 degrees from the standard 71 degree lie
angle. The location of these weights also helps to reduce clubhead
rotation
and stabilize the putter face throughout the putting stroke, as well as
increasing the moment of inertia to provide a larger sweet spot for a
more consistent strike across the clubface.
The Studio Select
Squareback 2 Putter also has a higher toe profile, which helps those
golfers who have a tendency to raise the toe end of the putter up at
address and consequently aim left of the intended target line. With
its clean and attractive look and soft beaded mist finish, to help
reduce glare from the topline, the Studio Select Squareback 2 Putter
comes with a red Cameron cord grip for exceptional feel and putter head
cover.
Although you will need to spend a little more on a Scotty
Cameron Putter compared to other brands, you will certainly not be
disappointed. In this case you definitely get what you pay, which is a
high performance putter that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and
will simply help you to gain more confidence and hole more putts.
