GX-4i Golf Rangefinder Review
|
|
The
New 2012 Leupold GX-4i range finder offers the same
unique superior optics, durable design and latest digital
technology as its brother the Leupold GX-3i Rangefinder but takes custom distance measurements to a whole new level.
The Leupold GX-4i range finder provides you with a clear and easy to
read red visual display
and a useful scan mode so you can sweep across the landscape and
benefit from
a continuous display of line of site distance measurements. It also
utilizes Leupold’s extremely accurate and popular PinHunter Laser
Technology.
This technology measures line of
sight yardage distances in split seconds, that are accurate to 6
inches and capable of reaching a maximum range of 800 yards. The
GX-4i has 2 face templates, a chrome one that makes it legal for
tournament play and a yellow one
which turns it into a much more advanced coaching tool. |
This template turns the Leupold GX-4i range finder into a different animal by
adjusting the yardage measurements to take into account individual distance potential, slope/elevation, altitude and
temperature, and then providing you with the right club to use for each
shot. You will have to initially programme the GX-4i with your own
individual distance averages when you purchase the unit and then enter
the altitude and temperature before you play each course.
But this is a simple process that only takes a few moments to set up. We all
know that hitting 150 yards up hill requires more club than if you were
hitting 150 yards down hill. We also know that temperature and altitude
variations also have an impact on the distance you can hit your clubs. But how many of us can say that we actually take
this information into account or know exactly how much compensation is required!
The Leupold GX-4i range finder does all the hard work and
calculations for you. As long as you have entered your correct personal
striking distances and the right climate measurements into the unit,
then it will feel like having your own tour caddy right there by your
side. These additional features on the GX-4i Golf Laser Range Finder do
obviously come at a premium, however you are interested in buying it

Special Ops for Golfers - November
22, 2012
by William Mcallig
The Leupold GX-4i range finder is the best rangefinder on the market,
bar none. It offers the best pin ranging on the market with precision
laser technology. The interactive chip with advanced slope, altitude,
club selection and ranging algorithms puts all other products on the
market to shame.
The unit is built for the battlefield, but at home on the golf course.
Inclement weather be damned. This things could be rescued from a
lateral water hazard and still do its job. It possesses Kalashnikov
ruggedness for snipers with the appropriate iron or graphite. It may
tend toward the top end of the price scale; but like anything in life,
you get what you pay for.
Good but felt short of expectations - October 16, 2012 by The Gadget Guy
The reasons why I purchased the Leupold GX-4i Rangefinder were because of the following:
1. Versatility to switch from coaching mode (elevation adjusted distance) to competition accepted mode
2. Pin-seeking capability
3. Ruggedness
Overall, I am pleased with my purchase but a couple of issues kept me from awarding it 5-stars.
1. The pin-seeking capability disappointed. It does not pick the pin up
as readily to register the distance. It still does overshoot and read
the distance inaccurately
if one does not hold the rangefinder steadily enough.
2. Image of the pin was not sharp enough as I look through the scope.
Figured it can't be manually calibrated just like cameras to adjust to
each individual's
shortsightedness.
Great Gadget and Usefull! - June 29, 2012
by KRoss83
This is my first review on amazon and Just recieved the Leupold GX-4I
range finder and have only played once with it but absolutely love it!
Have tried many GPS rangefinders from Iphone apps to actual gps units.
Those are great for basic information but I'm a pilot and travel lots
and play courses only once and the GPS data can sometimes be quite off.
I'm not a great golfer (15 Handicap), but this just gives you that
information that makes you feel confident in your club decision. The
new bright red OLED numbers are very easy to read evenn with sunglasses
on! Its quick...VERY quick on giving you the information. I tried the
bushnell brand once and it was nice but for 100$ more for the similar
model with slope, it did not feel as sturdy and I just prefered the
build quality and look of this unit. Its MUCH smaller in person to. I
can easily fit it in my pocket. I think in combination with a free
basic GPS app on your iphone to see course layout if your trying new
courses and this golf laser rangefinder as you get closer to the pin,
its the perfect combination for those golfers who travel or like to try
lots of new courses. I know the Leupold GX-4i range finder will help
bring down my score and improve accuracy. Thanks Leupold for the great
product.

Slope Edition Golf Rangefinders:

Apart from price, one of the most important things that you need to
consider before buying a golf range finder, is what you are going to be
using it for. When it comes to choosing a golf range finder there are
two types that
you can buy, you can either go for a Tournament
Edition or
a Slope
Edition rangefinder. Check below to learn the difference
between the two and find out which models are the best Tournament and
Slope edition range finders for you.

Best
Tournament Edition Golf Range Finders
|
|
If
you're looking for a golf laser range finder
that can be used in competition or for handicap purposes then
you will need to buy a Tournament
Edition rangefinder, as this type of range finder provides
line of sight distance measurements only and are deemed to be legal for
tournament use (where local rules apply).
This year has seen the release of some excellent new models from the
markets
leading brands. These new rangefinders are faster at
retrieving results and far more accurate at ranging targets
than ever
before. Click the image to learn all about the

Best
Slope Edition Golf Laser Range Finders
|
|
Slope
Edition golf laser rangefinders are considered non-legal for
tournament play because they offer extra features that provide
adjusted yardage
measurements which compensate for the natural inclines and
declines of the course, and some even account for climate
conditions and offer suggestions on club selection!
So if you just want a range finder to use in practice
or to improve your game so you can gain that crucial edge
over your golfing buddies, then a Slope edition range finder may very
well be the one to consider. Check out the best Slope edition golf
range finders by clicking on the image.
