GX-3i Golf Rangefinder Review
|
|
The
2012 GX-3i digital golf range finder by Leupold is one of the most
advanced range finders currently available and offers superior optics,
exceptional speed and accuracy. With a maximum range of 800
yards,
the Leupold GX-3i range finder is
accurate to 6 inches and displays yardage measurements to a tenth of a
yard.
All of this is achieved within a split second. But it's not just the
superior optics, accuracy and speed that separates it apart from the
field. The GX-3i also provides high quality build and feel as well.
Heavier than most Golf Laser Range Finders the GX-3i is sturdy and
compact, and no expense has been spared on its construction.
This gives the Leupold GX-3i range finder a touch of class in every
aspect, from the rubber grip to the battery door. The Leupold GX-3i is
incredibly easy to use with just two buttons required to operate it,
one for targeting and the other one for using the menu mode. |
The numbers and display on the viewfinder are red, which tends to make
it easier on the eyes and quicker to see the results. Similar to all of
the Leupold GX Range Finders, the Leupold GX-3i rangefinder has been
precisely calibrated to fire a laser beam exactly at the target in the
crosshairs and accurately separates this reading from the readings of
any unwanted objects in the background, ensuring that you get the most
accurate measurements possible.
On courses that utilize prism technology ranging a distant to the pin
is even easier thanks to the Prism Lock. All you need to do is hold the
top button to scan the area around the pin, and your Leupold unit will
beep and the display will freeze the moment it identifies a
prism-topped flag stick. The New 2012 Leupold GX-3i range finder also
has an excellent scan mode which comes in very handy if you want to see
multiple distance readings. To activate this feature you just need to
hold the power button down and the display will continuously update
with accurate line of site measurements.
Once you have experienced the exceptional accuracy and performance
levels of the Leupold GX-3i rangefinder you wont want to go back to
anything else. The GX-3i is legal for tournament play and also has a
big brother called the Leupold GX-4i golf laser rangefinder, which
offers some exciting new additional features that are worth a look! If

Leupold GX-3I Rangefinder - November
14, 2012
by Umpire.20
I recently purchased the GX-1 model. After using it for 1 round, I
returned it and bought the Leupold GX-3i range finder. I wasn't
impressed with the speed nor accuracy of the readings on the GX-1. This
unit (GX-3i) is GREAT. Bright red "target" in the viewfinder. Quick to
register the distance and most important -- A C C U R A T E --
I've used the scan mode for "several" readings for the same shot e.g.
to the bunker, water, mound etc. And of course I've used the pin for
the others. This unit finds the flag and gives a reading very quickly.
I've found my shots are now much better because I know the EXACT
distance to the flag. Having used a GPS in the past, which gives front,
middle, and back readings, I can strongly recommend the purchase of
this particular rangefinder.
To date, I haven't used the prism seeker mode since my local course
doesn't use that type flag-stick. I will be testing that function
fairly soon as I will visit a course that has the prisms on their
flags.

Ordered a few days prior to my trip back home to the U.S. It arrived
before I did and just as advertised! Works perfectly!

Gonna sound fairly Cliche but this is the holy grail.
I typically am a 1 or 5 star reviewer. There is the in between but no
point letting others know how "content" you are with something. Anyways,
Pros:
Compact
Solid
Trusted brand - military and law enforcement trust Leupold
FAST - really fast
Cons:
CR2 Lithium battery - plan stocking a backup before needing one.
Keeping it short. The Leupold GX-3i range finder does exactly what is
says it does. It's really fast, once to power on and another to clock a
distance. scan mode works well and it beeps to confirm
lock-in...optional beep btw.
average sized hands and it fits perfectly and the top (range-finding)
button is located conveniently on top. No complaints other than the
funky battery format, but there is a BatteriesPlus down the street and
they are $5-7 on amazon. No biggie.
There is a quirk to this, not because of the product but because we are
humans. Most people hold rangefinders with their right hand to the
right eye. You should hold the rangefinder further away from your face
(middle finger to operation top button) and rest your right hand on
your nose and use your left eye (or vice versa). It is much more stable.
Although relatively expensive, if you are serious about golf, just buy
it, the Leupold GX-3i range finder will stay in your bag longer than
your equipment (if you are anything like me) and I can't imagine golf
laser rangefinders being much faster than this. It is almost
instantaneous. The bells and whistles will have better features over
time (GX-4i and so on) but they are illegal for play...Trust me, they
are illegal for tournament and handicap posting.

Slope Edition Golf Rangefinders:

Apart from price, one of the most important things that you need to
consider before buying a golf range finder, is what you are going to be
using it for. When it comes to choosing a golf range finder there are
two types that
you can buy, you can either go for a Tournament
Edition or
a Slope
Edition rangefinder. Check below to learn the difference
between the two and find out which models are the best Tournament and
Slope edition range finders for you.

Tournament Edition Golf Range Finders
|
|
If
you're looking for a golf laser range finder
that can be used in competition or for handicap purposes then
you will need to buy a Tournament
Edition rangefinder, as this type of range finder provides
line of sight distance measurements only and are deemed to be legal for
tournament use (where local rules apply).
This year has seen the release of some excellent new models from the
markets
leading brands. These new rangefinders are faster at
retrieving results and far more accurate at ranging targets
than ever
before. Click the image to learn all about the

Best
Slope Edition Golf Laser Range Finders
|
|
Slope
Edition golf laser rangefinders are considered non-legal for
tournament play because they offer extra features that provide
adjusted yardage
measurements which compensate for the natural inclines and
declines of the course, and some even account for climate
conditions and offer suggestions on club selection!
So if you just want a range finder to use in practice
or to improve your game so you can gain that crucial edge
over your golfing buddies, then a Slope edition range finder may very
well be the one to consider. Check out the best Slope edition golf
range finders by clicking on the image.
