Let's
look at an example to show how the Golf Handicap adjustment process
works for a Golfer who plays off an official Handicap of 18.0. We can
see that the Golfer will fall into Category 3, so if we say for
arguments sake that the Standard Scratch for the Course was 72.
If
he shot a round on 93, he would have played to 3 shots above his
handicap (93 - 72 = 21) in which case there would be no Golf Handicap
Adjustment because of the Buffer Zone!
However
if he shot a
round of
95, then he would have played 5 shots above his handicap (95 - 72 = 23)
in which case there would be a Golf Handicap Adjustment of 0.1 onto his
handicap (as this is the maximum increase allowed) and his new Handicap
would be 18.1.
However,
if he shot a
round of 88, then he would have
played 2 shots under his Golf Handicap (88 - 72 = 16) that means his
Handicap would be reduced and there would be a Golf Handicap Adjustment
of (2 x 0.3 = 0.6), giving him a new Golf Handicap of (18.0 - 0.6) 17.4.
